The sounds made by the rattlesnake
The rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox of the family Viperidae) has a horny rattle at the end of the tail formed by several rings that increase with each moult. When one feels threatened, he moves this extremity, thus shaking the horny rings which produce a characteristic sound.
